Sturla & Cia, founded on May 1st 1947, started out as a company of collective motorboats in Tigre, Buenos Aires Province. It originally began business with a fleet of five classic boats that transported the inhabitants of the Delta area and weekend visitors. Initially, the main routes were Tigre Barca Grande, Tigre Vico, and Tigre Medina, a four-hour long trip.
By the late 80s, the company sold the routes and three of its boats to engage in the tourist development of the Delta area.
Ten years later, the first ecologic and silent engine was installed in one of the wooden boats, and the inner structure was modified by replacing the side seats for individual velveteen seats. New sound systems were installed as well for on board audio systems with microphones and speakers.
One year later, the first fiberglass boat was built for passenger service. It was called Don Angel S., after one of the founders of the company, Angel Sturla. Thus a new activity began: event organization in the Delta, which became one of the major attractions of corporate tourism.
In 1999, the fleet expanded with the purchase of the “Azalea” boat, a variation of “El León IV”, “El León VII”, and “Don Angel S”.
In 2004, we expanded our fleet through the purchase of Delta Premium boats: “White”, “Red”, and “Green”, from the Multistar line, thus providing the most modern technology, service, and safety on board.
In 2005, the company added “Elsie P.”, a relic that had been sailing the river since 1921, with a capacity for 12 passengers, which ratified our need to continue upholding the identity of the Delta. The boat “Realidad II” was purchased in 2006 to add a vessel with a capacity for 110 passengers.
In 2009, the first premium aluminum boat for 12 passengers was built and named “Hugo Sturla”, after our honorary president.
And to provide more options, we have added yet another premium boat, “Silver”, for 50 passengers.
